How to Replace Battery for your Velotric T1

Written Instruction - Parts Removal

Step 1 - Power off your Ebike

Press and hold the "Front Light" button to power off the Ebike.

 

Step 2 - Remove the fingerprint module

2a. Remove the fingerprint module mounting bolt with an M2 Allen key, and set it aside.

2b. Gently remove the fingerprint module.

2c. Unplug all connectors from the fingerprint module by pulling each connector directly apart without twisting.

 

Step 3 - Secure the fishing line

Use masking tape to secure the fishing line to the battery connector end (the longest cable) at the cable opening of the top tube. (The fishing line will be used to pass the new battery cable through the down tube.)

 

Step 4 - Flip your bike upside down

Carefully flip the Ebike over and prop the handlebar grips on plastic foam.

 

Step 5 - Remove the bottom cover

5a. Remove the three Bottom Cover mounting bolts with an M3 Allen key. Set the bolts aside.

5b. Gently remove the bottom cover to avoid unplugging the connector on the back.

5c. Unthread the IOT module connector on the bottom cover by hand until fully released. Set the bottom cover aside for reinstallation.

 

Step 6 - Remove the motor controller

6a. Snip the zip tie with scissors.

6b. Remove the motor controller mounting bolt on the down tube with an M3 Allen key.

6c. Unplug the motor controller from the battery.

6d. Unplug all connectors from the motor controller by pulling each connector directly apart without twisting.

 

Step 7 - Disconnect the charging port

Trace the cable from the charging port to the connector, and pull the connector directly apart without twisting.

 

Step 8 - Remove battery mounting bolts

Remove the three battery mounting bolts from the down tube with an M2.5 Allen key. Set the bolts aside.

 

Step 9 - Pull the battery out

Pull the battery out from the down tube.

 

Step 10 - Prepare for the reinstall

Remove the end of the fishing line attached to the old battery cable. Leave the fishing line inside the downtube for now. (You will use this fishing line to pull the new battery cable through the hole in a later step.)

 

Written Instruction - Parts Installation

 

Step 1- Secure the fishing line

Use masking tape to secure the fishing line to the battery connector end at the upper cable opening.

Lower the battery into the down tube. Ensure the battery mounting bolt holes are facing upward. Pull the bottom end of the fishing line to guide the cable through the cable opening at the bottom of the top tube.

 

Step 3 - Reinstall the motor controller

3a. Plug the three cable connectors into the motor controller. Align the internal notch and pins and press directly together without twisting to fully seat the connection.

3b. Pull the battery out from the down tube just a bit, and hold it.

3c. Plug the motor controller into the battery. Align the internal notch and pins and press directly together without twisting to fully seat the connection.

Step 5 - Align the battery with the mounting holes

Lower the battery into the down tube. Make sure that the battery mounting bolt holes are aligned with the holes on the down tube, and that the battery connector end is visible outside of the frame.

 

Step 6 - Tighten the battery mounting bolts

Thread in the battery mounting bolts by hand and tighten the three bolts securely with an M2.5 Allen key.

 

Step 7 - Tighten the motor controller mounting bolts

Thread in the motor controller mounting bolt and tighten it securely with an M3 Allen key.

 

Step 8 - Organize the wires by zip tie

Use a zip tie to secure the cables in the upper cable opening. Snip zip tie excess and ensure the cut is flush and smooth.

 

Step 9 - Reinstall the bottom cover

9a. Thread the IOT module connector onto the bottom cover securely by hand.

9b. Put the bottom cover into position, thread the bottom cover mounting bolts into the mounting points by hand, and tighten the three bolts securely with an M3 Allen key.

 

Step 10 - Flip the bike upright

Flip the Ebike upright.

 

Step 11 - Reinstall the Fingerprint module

11a. Remove the fishing line from the battery cable.

11b. Plug in all fingerprint module connectors. Align the internal notch and pins (and external arrows), and press each side directly together without twisting to fully seat the connection.

11c. Put the fingerprint module into position, thread the fingerprint module mounting bolt into the mounting point by hand, and tighten it securely with an M2 Allen key.

 

Step 12 - Test before the ride
Test the Ebike fully before riding to make sure it is in good working condition.
  • The Ebike can be powered on/off with fingerprints.
  • The battery level is displayed normally.
  • The motor provides power assistance, and the pedal assist level can be switched normally.
  • The front light turns on/off normally.
  • You can unlock your Ebike and obtain the Ebike data you need via the VELOTRIC app.
